Once upon a time, there was Optimism and Motivation, they gave birth to a beautiful child called Goals. While they were trying to co-exist in a happy kingdom, Despair and Apathetic threatened to overthrown them. But Opti And Moti (what are millennials if not short forms) were resilient. They were willing to fight back with the help of Perseverance. Once the almanac turned anew, they were at their most powerful. Goals was slowly and steadily growing into a powerful entity, which would change the new almanac as they know it. But come the 2nd moon, Optimism and Motivation fell dangerously ill and with their guards weakened, Perseverance was defeated by Despair and Apathetic, and the kingdom was overtaken by brute forcr. Goals was force to leave the kingdom and turn to hiding, while Optimism and Motivation were trying to recover and heal, whilst slowly gathering their energy to return and come back more powerful than ever before.
And that is literally the story of every single New Year’s resolution ever. Well, almost.
I can’t say I haven’t fallen victim to Despair and Apathetic more times that I can count. I mean, I am human (and half bunny but ssshh, nobody knows yet) and I think it’s fair to say that I have done my bit of writing super motivational blog posts that help you figure out what you want to be in the new year. But chewing back on my own words as I literally try to gobble up all that self-improvement talk whilst living out the very same principles. Because let’s face it. I haven’t stuck to them. And I’m not ashamed to admit it.
Just like I know you haven’t stuck to any of those special promises you have made for yourself in the New Year and that’s why you’re reading this post with a small but guilty smile. Eh? Eh?
So what are you going to do about it Niki? Well, the principle is simple. If it doesn’t have a strong enough ‘Why’ attached to it then maybe it’s not going to get accomplished. And no amount of Motivation and Optimism is ever going to fix that. Sorry to break it to you.
Buuuut, having said that, here is a new method I am going to actually apply and for the first time in my life, hold myself accountable for it- using you guys. The humiliation of the World Wide Web. I am going to challenge myself to focus on ONE thing for a month, every month of 2019 and whenever I do write a blog post about it, you guys will get a real, up-front, close-up, reality check of what sticking to these ‘goals’ really matter and how the struggle is so real.
So what am I going to call this?
And the premise is quite simple.
List down a series of goals you want to accomplish. One a month. And simply do it. Not go overboard with like a bajilion! (Hello, last blog post in December, I’m taking to you.)
In fact, I chose 6 big ones to begin with already, which will be long term. Three of which I can’t speak of yet (because, suspense). But here are the other 3!
Fix my Digestion (weight loss is truly overbearing and very short term. Maybe this was I can learn to fix a 3 year long problem once and for all!)
Write (takes a deep breathe) 30 blog posts this year, just to combat my lack of focus last year. Dude, I wrote like 10 last year. Awful.
Take this blog more seriously and do all the backend work I’ve been dreading to do. Just fix them, dang it!
That’s it. And I will intersperse these bigger ones with other for a month if I feel like it. Like maybe do challenges for a few days. Who knows!
But nevertheless, I will be updating you guys more about it. And proudly proclaiming when I fail or succeed. (I really hope it’s the latter) And even if no body reads this, at least I can proudly say that I tried for myself and for the future Niki reading this.
No pressure, no self-shaming or being too hard on yourself in case things don’t work out. I’m just trying to see where this goes and try have a little fun with it.
I mean, that’s what life is all about right?
So I welcome you, join me on this little journey for the rest of the year. I don’t have a mailing system active on the blog yet for you to know when I post new updates buuut, you can follow me on them social media to know whenever I post a new blog article!
I’m trying something new this year, and maybe who knows, amidst all the experimentation, I might finally get to a point where I can proudly say I chose to invest my time in things that really matter.
I know this post was a little short, but, bear (bare? I can never tell) with me! Exciting things are coming :)
See you very soon!
May Motivation and Optimism never leave your side,

To those who think travelling means going to exotic places, names of which you can’t pronounce, taking insta-worthy pictures, its more than that. Discover the benefits of traveling with my account on my recent travel to the Philippines!
Being inspired is really important to me. And when that feeling goes a little dim, or when I don’t feel the familiar fluidity of thoughts, I know that I need to do something to recharge my mind. Or in simple terms, find a muse. And that’s exactly what I got with the review of the anime Your Lie In April/ Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso
I am not going to force myself to be happy.
Because I realized the more I push it, the more pressuring it is to actually just go and be happy. It’s not as easy as it sounds, you know?
As the title denotes, the bookworm in me finally gave in and decided to check out the many book subscription options in the country. Not only was I desperate for a new reads but it was my birthday month, so why not?
Now if you were to ask me about reviews on things like the best romantic rooftop places to go to? I am sorry but I cannot do that for the life of me. But for things like coffee shops and hot chocolate?
*rolls sleeves up*
You have come to the right place.
Hi there, I am turning 26 year old today and on my birthday I chose to sit in a coffee shop by myself and write this piece for you.
Trust me when I say this but your inner child is the very essence of who you are. A happy adult, means their inner child is happy. A sad adult means you need to give your inner child new toys to play.
And I felt like I rediscovered mine recently.
“Travel far enough, you meet yourself”
Travelling is nothing short of magic.
It plucks you from the dusty pages of your mundane life and breathes life back into the colorful aspects of who you are. If you are lucky, it helps you discover a new side of you. A side you never knew existed. A side that you never knew you could have.
Yes, they can be really cheesy, and so cliché that they make you want to roll your eyes at them. But you have to admit, no matter how you see it a good quote always manages to put a smile on your grumpy face. And sometimes a quick pick me up is exactly what we may need.
It's interesting to see how certain smells evoke a strong memory that may or may not have anything to do with the present. But it somehow manages to take you back to a place and time which have been long forgotten.
I want to rediscover myself again. Not because I am not happy with the person I am right now, but because I want to bring back a little bit of magic back into who I was. You know, find out what I love about myself, know more about my preferences and work on any weaknesses I can spot. Just do things and include myself into scenarios that not only make me happy, but make the people around me happy too.
If you are looking for a touch of something that puts your mind in a certain mood, or helps gather your thoughts for the night, here are some typography images, or just images for that matter, that I would love for you to see.
Wait a minute. Wasn’t social media created so we could find better ways to keep in touch with friends and family? Wasn’t it a platform for us to share our happiest and fondest memories and trophy a testament to our relationship with them?
Now my question is, if you can’t stand their happiness, what is stopping you from creating yours?
But unlike most situations, sometimes there is the perfect setting, the perfect environment, the perfect climate that gives you big, open hints that the timing is just right to do something.
If not action something, sometimes the climate is just right to make you feel a certain way that helps you get more inspired or motivated to live your best life.
